Remember how Katie Holmes was in Batman Begins but not either of the next Dark Knight movies? This is old news, but now that the trilogy is complete, it gives us time to look back on the first two movies. Anyway, multiple reports show that Nolan offered her the role of Rachel again in The Dark Knight, but that she turned it down so that she could be in Mad Money with Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah. I don’t get it. Let’s look at some stats.
Here is what viewers thought of these movies according to Rotten Tomatoes:
In addition to what people thought, here is how they did in the box office according to IMDB:
The Dark Knight was nominated for 8 Academy Awards and won 2. Mad Money wasn’t nominated for any Academy Awards, The only award it was even nominated for was a BET award of best actress for Queen Latifah, which had nothing to do with Katie.
All things considered, it’s hard to compare these movies. A lot of people view The Dark Knight as one of the best movies of all time, and most people have never heard of Mad Money. So I tried asking Katie if she regrets her decision via Twitter, but she hasn’t responded. So all we can do is speculate. What do you think?Google+
